Housing
Find your accommodation
This website provides helpful weblinks and contacts for finding an accommodation during your studies at TH Rosenheim.
Here you find further information about accommodation.
Notice boards
- At Campus Rosenheim (first floor stairwell of Building A - in front of room A Z1.50) you can find postings for private room and apartment offers. The notice board can also be used for private room and apartment requests.
- The TH Rosenheim Dashboard also offers a notice board. Students and employees regularly post accommodation offers here.
Important: Look early for your student accomodation!
Start looking for a flat as soon as possible after your admission at TH Rosenheim, at least 3 months before your start of studies.
Please be aware that student housing at all campuses at TH Rosenheim is limited and that you are responsible for organising your accommodation. The earlier you start with your search for accommodation, the sooner you will find your student housing.
Check the location of your study programme: TH Rosenheim has campuses in different cities: Rosenheim, Burghausen, Mühldorf am Inn and Traunstein.
Search online. Search on housing portals regularly, sign up to newsletters. Use social media groups, and actively write to people who offer rooms.
Read the prices and conditions: on top of the basic rent ("KM" / "Kaltmiete"), there are usually additional expenses ("NK / "Nebenkosten") such as gas, water and electricity. Go here for more useful terminology and abbreviations.
Unless you book a room in the student residences, DO NOT transfer money in advance (for rent, security deposit etc). Scammers attract people with cheap private offers and demand the rent/deposit in advance. Visit apartments and meet the landlords in-person before signing contracts.
If time is short: Don't panic. Stay in a hostel or with a fellow student. Keep looking during the semester. Also look for short-term options for the first weeks or months (boarding houses, interim rent)!

How to be a good tenant
- Prepare a detailed portfolio for your application. You should prepare a personal introduction (e.g. short CV, photo of you, tenant self-disclosure (German/English), German language certificate, a proof of steady income (e.g. payslips, scholarship, credit report, parental guarantee letter, blocked account), and a copy of personal documents (e.g. passport, ID, visa, residence permit, student proof).
- Get a personal liability insurance (learn more). Landlords prefer tenants who are insured against minor or major damage to their property. Compare offers here.
- Pay your deposit and rent on time. After you signed the contract, make sure to always pay in time by setting up an automated transfer with your bank account.
- Keep the apartment and communal areas clean. Respect the quiet hours at night and on weekends.
- Waste disposal and recycling are mandatory. Follow the house rules and separate your waste accordingly. There are different garbage boxes in Germany. Use the drop-off stations for glass, packaging and paper. Take a look at the basics of waste separation, for practical details ask your landlord or house keeper.
