About the laboratory
The laboratory for apparatus engineering and mechanical process engineering is equipped for experiments and measurement technology in this field. Processes such as solid-liquid separation, agglomeration, fluidised beds, grinding, etc. can be mapped here. The conditioning (drying oven, climatic chamber) and measurement (particle size distribution via laser diffraction and optically, gas pycnometer, rheometer) of powders and suspensions can also be carried out here. In this laboratory, not only do the students' practical courses in the areas of apparatus engineering and mechanical process engineering take place, but also practical courses in the area of plant engineering, especially in the area of fluid machinery and valves.
Projects
Research and current projects
Research focuses include mixing technology, target-controlled fluidised bed agglomeration and coating, magnetic separation, grinding and others. One research focus is intelligent unit operations, which involves improving mechanical process engineering processes via additional actuators and sensors and a self-learning algorithm.
The following research and projects are currently being carried out on the premises:
- Intelligent mixing technology
