Scholarships and financing

Based on the allocation of funds by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts, TH Rosenheim awards semester term grants to international students in financial need and with good academic standing. The announcement is published each year during the summer term in May-June in the Intranet / Dashboard of TH Rosenheim.

Former students from PASCH schools (Deutsche Auslands- und Partnerschulen) who start their studies in Bavaria can apply for a 1-year scholarship by BayBIDS (information available in German). Application is possible for start of studies in the winter semester of each year.

Bachelor's graduates and Master's students from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine can apply for a scholarship by BAYHOST (Bavarian Academic Center for Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe). 

The one-year scholarships are meant to finance postgraduate studies (i.e. Master's programs), PhDs or one-year research initiatives in Bavaria. More information is offered by Uni Regensburg.

The DAAD Scholarship Database includes programmes directly offered by DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst / German Academic Exchange Service ) and further organisations. It helps you find matching scholarships for financing your studies in Germany.

Some international students may be entitled to BAföG (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz - Federal Education and Training Assistance Act). BAföG is a government funding for their academic studies. Foreign students can apply if:

• one parent has German citizenship,
• they have or have had a German spouse,
• they are a legitimate asylum seeker, stateless or a refugee,
• one parent was legally employed in Germany for three years within six years of the start of the study course,
• they were legally employed in Germany for five years before the start of the study course.

Student loan is a low-interest loan by the German state for the purpose of supporting students in their education. It is granted for a maximum of 24 months and up to 300 EUR per month. Repayment begins four years after the first payment of the loan. However, this loan is only open to international students to a very limited extent.
