The PARICIPATE-MOB project investigates interprofessional outpatient diagnostics of gait-related participation in people after a stroke. Stroke is the most common neurological disease in Germany. Only a third of those who are discharged from the hospital as “ambulatory” leave the house in everyday life. The aim of outpatient follow-up care is to improve people's participation after a stroke.
To achieve this, the various professional groups should work well together. Last year we conducted a literature search. We then discussed our experiences regarding the diagnosis of gait-related participation in outpatient care in five focus groups with people after a stroke, members of the health professions and health professionals in Rosenheim and Munich.
The procedure is described as a study protocol, which was published in English and can be accessed free of charge at the link https://doi.org/10.1136/bmjopen-2024-084316.
The next step is a future workshop. We invite you as those affected, relatives, health professionals and proven experts on your own behalf to contribute your ideas and experiences to a future workshop and thereby help shape and improve the future of stroke aftercare.
