Complaints Committee: Contact point for sexual discrimination

There is no place for sexual discrimination and violence at our university!

Unfortunately, sexual assaults, sexual discrimination and violence do not stop outside the gates of institutions like universities. This makes it even more vital that we do everything in our power to prevent this and raise awareness of the subject.

Within its area of responsibility, Rosenheim Technical University is committed to ensuring the human right to protection from sexual discrimination and violence is granted and respected. Its aim is to facilitate gender-equal, respectful, trusting and non-discriminatory interaction between all members of the TH Rosenheim.

What do I do if I am personally affected by this?

If you have experienced sexual discrimination or violence, you can contact a member of the Complaints Committee of your choice for an initial consultation. Members of the Complaints Committee are required to maintain the strictest confidence. The consultation is confidential and it may also be conducted anonymously.

During the initial consultation, you tell us about your concerns. We explain the various options available to you and inform you about lodging a complaint with the Complaints Committee. It is up to you whether you leave it at the initial consultation stage or would like to take further steps.

Contact us, we are here for you!

Your contact persons

In the course of my work as a student advisor at the TH Rosenheim, the topic of sexual discrimination can come up during counseling sessions. Often, those seeking advice are not even aware of it. With the Complaints Commission, we have a contact point that those affected can use to express their feelings, fears and concerns in connection with what they have experienced. Often, a clarifying conversation in a protected space is enough to bring relief. Sometimes more support is needed. I would like to encourage you to take advantage of this offer if necessary!

Silke Kroneck 1st Chairperson of the Complaints Committee

Shame, anger, helplessness, hurt, pain - all at the same time - was all that really true? Or was it all my fault? Or not so bad? Don't make such a fuss about it! And the fear: Who will believe me? Who will understand me? Must I deal with it all on my own? Or will everything get worse when I make contact with someone? There are people here that I don't know. I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow. I could just ask for some advice...

Karl-Heinz Lehner, Catholic University Pastor 2nd Chairperson of the Complaints Committee

Here at the TH Rosenheim, I like working with a wide variety of people as a laboratory technician. To help those doing internships and research, I am happy to actively contribute my experience. In addition to looking after the technical equipment, I am also available to listen to others, especially when there's a spanner in the works. My motto is "solve it - there's no such thing as impossible", and I also want to be available on a basis of trust here too. There's usually immediate relief after the initial contact.

Wolf Schmederer Member of the Complaints Committee

The topic of sexual discrimination and violence continues to be an issue at universities as well. As women's representative and head of the family office, I am committed to reducing discrimination against women in their studies and professional life. It can take a lot of energy and courage to stand up against sexual harassment or violence. I am happy to stand by your side and offer you my help and support in a fear-free and protected setting. Which measures you would like to take remains your decision alone.

Petra Bauer Member of the Complaints Committee

"Getting help" sounds so obvious, but is often associated with a lot of overcoming, excitement and also fear. Our own fears and insecurities often keep us from taking this step. "Is what I have experienced already enough to be allowed to get help?", "What can I expect if I tell about it? Will I be believed?" "What happens next?". These are just a few of the doubts that often stand between sufferers and counseling. Therefore, I would like to encourage you not to let them hold you back. Have the courage, I will welcome you with an open ear as your first point of contact. Together we will find out what you need and what next steps can be. You determine your path and the pace.

Katharina Weiß Member of the Complaints Committee

As a lawyer, my job not only involves solving legal matters but I also have a great deal of experience with interpersonal conflicts, especially as a former personnel officer and trained mediator. It is therefore very important to me to listen to you attentively and explore various paths at your disposal – one of which is lodging a complaint with the Complaints Committee. In doing so, I would like to support you on a basis of trust – anonymity is absolutely guaranteed, if desired.

Evmarie Hulan Ms Hulan is currently on parental leave, but is still available to the Committee to assist with legal matters.
