About the degree programme
Wood is a fascinating and unmistakably natural material; we can feel its warmth, its weight and texture, its edges and corners. There are many good reasons to study wood technology. The new International Bachelor of Wood Technology degree programme at the Rosenheim Campus is aimed specifically at young people from outside Germany who have a limited knowledge of German and who are interested in wood as a sustainable material. The IWT practice-oriented study programme at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is as unique and as full of potential as the material wood itself.
Take advantage of the almost 100-year wood tradition and the expertise at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences and become a "Rosenheimer Holztechniker".
Course content
The International Bachelor of Wood Technology programme offers a comprehensive and solid university engineering education in the field of wood technology.
Wood technology - this includes wood material science, economics of the wood industry, wood production and technologies. Sustainability and the circular economy are also important aspects of your studies. Furthermore, you will acquire the general engineering, natural science, economics and organisational skills that are important for a successful engineering career.
The first three semesters cover the fundamental engineering studies, as well as specific courses in wood and wood-based materials. At the same time, you will learn the German language (level B2 / C1 CEFR) in language courses tailored for the programme.
Your courses in the first semester are held in English. From the second semester onwards you will attend selected subject modules in German and, from the third semester onwards, German is the language of instruction.
Beginning in the fourth semester you will join your peers from the German-language wood technology programme and attend the higher level engineering courses and electives in German.
The sixth semester is reserved for a practical semester / internship in one of the many local companies in Germany or in a company abroad.
The programme starts in the summer semester, which begins in March.
