Prof.in Drin. habil. Michaela Schunk, MPH, Dipl.-Psych. has been appointed as a Professor of Methods in Health Services Research at Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences since 2023. She is program director and teaches at the Faculty of Applied Health and Social Sciences in the Master program "Health Services Research and Management (M.Sc.)."
Michaela Schunk studied Psychology at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg. She earned her doctorate from the University of Manchester, UK. After research stays in Switzerland and the USA, she completed a postgraduate program in Public Health and Epidemiology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). She obtained her habilitation in "Public Health and Health Services Research" from the LMU Medical Faculty.
Her professional experience includes positions as a research associate at the Institute for Health Economics and Management in Health Care at the Helmholtz Center Munich, as well as at the Department of Palliative Medicine,
LMU University Hospital, LMU Munich. In addition to her teaching role at LMU in the fields of Medicine and Public Health/Epidemiology, Michaela Schunk has held teaching assignments at Apollon University of Applied Sciences and at the Katholische Stiftungshochschule München (KSH München) where she also served as an interim professor until her appointment at TH Rosenheim.
Michaela Schunk is an active member of the German Network for Health Services Research e.V. (DNVF), the DNVF Working Group on Qualitative Methods (Mixed Methods) and the DNVF Working Group on Theories. She is co-founder of the Network for Qualitative Research in Public Health and Medicine. She is a member of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP), of the Association of the Alzheimer Society (Bavarian Chapter), and of ACP Germany. She is dedicated to enhancing the collaboration between research, practice, and policy; her current activities include work with the "Ad hoc Commission Innovation Fund" of the DNVF.
