About the laboratory
The "Rapid Prototyping" laboratory of the Faculty of Interior Architecture, Architecture and Design IAD is an indispensable module at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences for design and furniture design training. The development of three-dimensional modelling skills is the basis for the successful digitalisation of many design professions. In their basic studies, students learn the 3D modelling software "Rhinoceros", which is widely used in many professions worldwide, from Prof. Kilian Stauss in a Specialist Required Elective Courses offered every semester. Building on this, the students also want to create their models digitally.
In the Specialist Required Elective Course "Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping" by Prof. Kilian Stauss, which also takes place every semester, the students are introduced to the processes of 3D printing and practice creating their own models on the machines in the laboratory. This includes data preparation and conversion, handling slicer software, placing and uploading data, monitoring the manufacturing process and further processing of the parts produced.
